Since we've had a successful first batch of beer, we're starting to map out what we'd like to accomplish before the end of the 2010 year.
We're considering:
1. Apple Cider
2. Mead
3. Beer (TBD)
Who would have known that fermentation would be so entertaining and satisfying? We'll post an update with what we have gone ahead with to finish out the year.
Brew #1 Beer: Pseudo Lager Brew date: 10 Oct 10 Conditioning: 13 Oct 10 Bottling: 31 Oct 10 ABV: unknown (forgot to take the initial reading of the mash) guestimate 8-10% Carbonation method: Primer
Tasting notes and observations: 07 Nov 10: Day 7 after bottling, slight fizz upon opening the bottle, which is a good sign that the yeast is still working away. Still light in body and taste.
14 Nov 10: Day 14 after bottling, more audible fizz from bottle opening. Flavors have developed to more of a pale ale.
18 Nov 10: Day 18 after bottling, clear carbonation has been achieved in beer. Clear floral aromas from the brew.
We're reserving a 6-pack as part of our Beer Library to be enjoyed at other dates to see how this beer develops!
As we can see, clearly after 18 days post bottling, is when you can crack one of these open and truly enjoy all the nuances that this beer can offer.
